In the early 1980's, CFNY created an annual awards show. CFNY was annoyed
with the Canadian music awards, the Junos, because they utterly ignored the
artists that they played regularly on the air. To combat this, they created a
spoof of the Junos, and called it the "U-Knows". The
"U-Knows" were to honor the bands played on CFNY, that were ignored by
the top-40 focused Junos. Later, they were renamed the "CASBY" awards
- Canadian Artist Selected By You.
In 1985, the U-Knows were becoming a significant deal, and a full sixty-page
program was produced. This program captured the alternative Canadian music scene
of the day, and it can be viewed, all sixty pages, right here.
